Aka-Gashira (赤頭 Aka-Gashira) is a yōkai known prominently for its red head.
Nothing is known about the Aka-Gashira's appearance, other than that its head is read.
The Aka-Gashira is a yōkai whose name accurately describes its appearance of having a red head, which in artistic depictions normally portray it with wild red hair. However not much else is known about it aside from its appearance. In the Kochi Prefecture another unrelated yōkai shares with it the name Akagashira. Other red head yōkai include Aka-Atama (also meaning "red head"), and Aka-Shaguma (red hair"), while the Shōjō and Shishi (alternative name for the Koma inu) are also depicted with wild, unkempt bright red hair in noh and kabuki.
