She died because of unknown causes shortly after giving birth to Akane, and her death devastated her husband Shōkichi and made him almost committing a suicide along with his new born daughter. It was when Hakusanbō contacted Shōkichi and made a deal with him on the condition that Shōkichi's life will be saved if Akane will be served to the vicious kitsune in the future.
