Amefuri-Kozō (雨降小僧 or 雨降り小僧 Amefuri-Kozō, lit. Rainfall Boy) is a yōkai boy capable of bringing rain.
Appearance[]
Amefuri-Kozō is a short, child-like yōkai, having a pudgy face and upturned nose. He wears a blue kimono, a pair of getas, and an umbrella over the blue cloth wrapped around his head. He is always carrying around a thin paper lantern.

Amefuri-Kozō appears in episode #20 of the first anime adaptation, Nezumi-Otoko and Neko-Musume.[1]

Amefuri-Kozō appears in episode #25 of the fifth anime adaptation, The Great Yōkai Sports Festival.[2]
He later appears in GeGeGe no Kitarō: Nippon Bakuretsu!!. Amefuri-Kozō appears as one of the multitude of Yōkai parading through cities due to Yato-no-Kami's influence. He is later returned to where he came from after Hana agrees to follow Yato-no-Kami.[3]
2018 Anime[]
Amefuri-Kozō appears in episode #21 of the sixth anime adaptation, Flame on! The Solitude of the Takurō-Bi.[4] He appears again in episode #28 along with Takurō-Bi and the other yōkai of GeGeGe Forest to help Kitarō fight off the Western Yōkai. After Backbeard and his army retreats for the time being, Amefuri-Kozō conjures rain to put out the fire that was consuming GeGeGe Forest.[5]

Powers and Abilities[]
Rain Conjuring: As his name implies, Amefuri-Kozō is able to conjure the rain at his command by using his paper lantern. Within the 2018 anime, Amefuri-Kozō is able to control his rain summoning, as shown when he makes the area around the trash compactor rain and stops once Takurō-Bi has been calmed. He also has to exert effort as it stops raining when he was attacked.[5] However, he has no control over this within the 2007 anime.[2]
Legend[]
Amefuri-Kozō is a weather spirit illustrated by Sekien Toriyama in his book "Konjaku Gazu Zoku Hyakki." They are said to be the servants of the Chinese rain god Ushi.
A story of the Amefuri-Kozō involved a man who encountered it while he was caught in a rainstorm. The man stole Amefuri-Kozō's umbrella and wore it on his head to shield him from the rain, but when he got home, he found that it was now stuck to his head.
