Benitōrō (紅蟷螂 Benitōrō, lit. Red Mantis) is a yōkai that briefly appeared in The Great Yōkai War.
Appearance[]
Despite being an insect yōkai, Benitōrō has a rather ugly and monstrous face shaped like an upside-down triangle, with angry, beady eyes, a flat nose and mouth, a wide smile, sharp teeth and tusks that jut out, long, red hair and beard, and a humanoid body. She wears a a brown kimono with black sleeves, ragged, light-brown cloths around his wrists, and brown gloves.
In the sequel, she wears a large, ragged, white cloth around her neck, and lacks gloves.
Personality[]
Benitōrō is a big partygoer, and doesn't realize her actions hurt others. While this can be seen as a negative, it does play a role in defeating Yasunori Katō.
History[]
The Great Yōkai War[]
Benitōrō, alongside thousands of other yōkai, attend the Festival of Darkness near Yasunori Katō's base in Tokyo, which ends up inadvertently trashing some of his Kikai.
The Great Yōkai War: Guardians[]
Benitōrō appears in the army Nurarihyon gathered to fight the Yōkaijū, cheering to the left of Ibaraki-Dōji after they all watched Dai-Majin and Seiryū defeat it.
Legend[]
If a female praying mantis that was about to lay eggs was tormented to death by a male mantis, her resentment would let her return as the yōkai Benitōrō, and get retribution on her tormentor by devouring him from the head down.
