The Demon King's Minions are the servants of Genieya's Father.[1]

Appearance[]

Aside from the Ring Spirit, seven individuals were shown: a warrior, a four-armed giant, a sea serpent, a headless giant, a caprine demon, a giant bird, and a giant fish.[1]

The headless giant has a muscular body, with the most notable feature being the face that rests on his torso. He has yellow eyes, prominent fangs, and a purple beard that covers his crotch.[1]

The bird is of gargantuan size, able to carry an elephant with ease using its talons. It has a brown and white plumage, the latter being the underside, and yellow feet.[1]

The fish is extraordinarily large, capable of capsizing boats. It is reddish pink in color, with large pale jagged fins, a row of sharp teeth, and a pair of lime eyes.[1]

The warrior is entirely clad in gray armor that obscures most of their body, save for their face, whose eyes appear to be completely black. Additionally, the armor has blue chainmail around the torso, and a green cape with a pink underside.[1]

The four-armed giant has pale skin, pointy ears, a pair of green bat wings, and arms that end with clawed fingers. Its face consists of a single red eye, no nose, and a maw filled with jagged teeth. Due to having four arms, its torso is longer, with a second pair of pectorals to accommodate the extra arms.[1]

Personality[]

As a whole, except for the Ring Spirit, the minions of Genieya's Father are violent and are fond of manipulating and triggering human wars. When their king became ill, they grew restless, wanting to go wild and cause havoc once again, which Genieya described as their "playful pranks". They look down on Genieya, saying that she is too young to join them.[1]

Legend[]

A few of the minions bear resemblance to several mythological creatures.

The giant bird may have drawn inspiration from the Middle Eastern legend of the Roc, a legendary bird of prey so large that it is often depicted to carry an elephant in its talons and eat them. One notable appearance is from a tale in One Thousand and One Nights, where a roc appears on a tropical island during Sinbad's second voyage. It has also been thought to have grown from the spread of myths from the east about the Garuda and has been conflated with the Simurgh.

The sea serpent doesn't seem to draw from any specific inspiration, but rather from sea serpents in general; being long, serpentine, aquatic beasts from several different nautical legends across the world.

The headless giant may have drawn inspiration from the legends of headless men from various countries. In particular, his pose and weapons seem to draw from Xingtian, a headless deity from China whose face is on his torso.

The design of the giant fish may have been based on Mizuki's illustration of "Merman and Harp" as the general postures of both fish somewhat resemble each other. Said illustration is also likely based on an illustration by Gustave Doré from the Italian epic poem Orlando Furioso (The Frenzy of Orlando) by Ludovico Ariosto.[2]

The four-armed giant bears a resemblance to one of Mizuki's illustrations on Gremlins; being a tall, thin humanoid with a pale complexion, an elongated head, pointy ears, fangs, and bat wings.
