Gegege no Kitarō: Jigoku Arc (ゲゲゲの鬼太郎 地獄編 Gegege no Kitarō Jigoku-hen) is a short TV series and sequel of 1985 anime. It aired from February 8 to March 21, 1988 on Fuji Television. It ran for 7 episodes and was produced by Toei Animation. Like the 1985 series, some episodes were outsourced and animated by different studios.[1] It is based on the 1987 manga of the same name.
About[]
The anime is based on the 4-chapter mini-series manga of the same name published in Monthly Shonen Magazine. It follows the same story with some changes, such as Iwako being changed into a human (and therefore Kitarō into a half-yōkai), sent to Hell as punishment for baring a yōkai child. This is the first anime to depict events from The Birth of Kitarō, although more gruesome elements such as Medama-Oyaji's transformation were toned down significantly.
Plot[]
Yumeko is transported to Hell by the demonic powers of a strange pillow Nezumi-Otoko had found, and so Kitarō and friends must go to Hell to save her, battling new characters like Jigoku-Dōji and heading for a final showdown with Nurarihyon.
