GeGeGe no Kitarō: Kitarō's Ghost Train (ゲゲゲの鬼太郎 〜鬼太郎の幽霊電車〜, GeGeGe no Kitarō: Kitarō no Yūrei Densha), released on March 20, 1999, was a short 3D-animated and 3D film based on the 1996 anime. It was loosely based on the story Ghost Train.[1]

It was the first 3D-animated and 3D film of the franchise, and staffs and voice casts of the 1996 anime were reconvened.
It was primary released at Hanayashiki in Asakusa, and was also aired in various events.
In October 2009, the film was re-released as part of the Toei 3D Animation Fair (とびだす!3D東映アニメまつり, Tobidasu! 3D Tōei Anime Matsuri, lit. "Coming out of screen! 3D Tōei Anime Festival").
It was later recorded in the DVD titled Toei CG Animation Fair (CG東映アニメまつり, CG Tōei Anime Matsuri, lit. "CG Tōei Anime Festival") along with 3 other 3D-animated films in February 2010, however, all the four films were adjusted as normal 3D-animations for home DVD players.
Synopsis[]
One day, Santarō Takasaka, a human boy, got a goose egg in mathematic test.
As he regrets, he wished if he can go back to yesterday and retry.
There, Nezumi-Otoko appeared and told Santarō to write a letter to Kitarō with your wish on it.
Afterwards, Santarō was taken by Kitarō on the Ghost Train to travel to the past, however as seeing his past deeds, Santarō slowly started redeeming his actions.
