Hitokoe-Sakebi is a paranormal belief told from the Gifu Prefecture where it is said that yōkai call out to people in the mountains using only one shout, therefore, when calling out to people in the mountains, it is necessary to repeat the shout twice.
In Ainu folklore, a similar phenomenon known as Kayo Oyasi is told where when one travels into the mountains, they may hear the Kayo Oyasi call out "Oy". Following it may put your life in danger.
