Hitokui-Jima (人食い島 Hitokui-Jima, lit Man-eating island) is a giant Yōkai who lived off the coast of Sasaoka Village in Wakayama Prefecture since 1,000 years ago.
Appearance
In the fourth anime, Hitokuijima in youth much more resembled a human male than his later-self.
Personality
In the third anime, he was rather calm by nature and used to be worshiped by humans as the Shima-Gami-Sama (島神様 Lord Island God) or Umi-Gami-Sama/Kaijin-Sama (海神様 Lord Sea God). However, at one point he fell under the control of Umi-Oshō within his lung, becoming notorious for seeking human sacrifices.
In Yōkai Sen-Monogatari, Hitokuijima was once violent but was sealed, however Shanghai Kani-Bōzu broke the seal and controlled Hitokuijima. Hitokuijima then asked a help to Kitarō.
