Hizama (ヒザマ Hizama) is a large rooster Yōkai.

History

Manga

Hizama was a village chief of a underground village in Mu Empire. He has various minions including skeleton army with distinctive markings on their skulls, army's steeds including giant moas and pteranodons. He ruled the village and enslaved human villagers as workers. Hizama fought against Kitarō and others, and when it devoured him, the rooster yōkai was defeated as its Yōkai Activity was sucked up by Kitarō.

Hizama is a rooster-like yōkai found at the Okinoerabu Island in the Kagoshima Prefecture.

It dwells in empty jars and buckets and starts fires in houses it possesses. To avoid dealing with Hizama, keep empty jars and buckets covered or fill them with water. If the house was still possessed by a Hizama, a Yuta shaman must be called in to exorcise them.
