Ichimokuren Warrior

During the battle against Yato-no-Kami in GeGeGe no Kitarō: Nippon Bakuretsu!!, Yobuko calls for help from all over Japan, the remaining 47 Yōkai Warriors are revealed once their mark begins to shine. Among those are Ichimokuren, who blinks in confusion when its mark appears over its pupil. Afterwards its power is sent to aid Kitarō in defeating Yato-no-Kami.[2]

Due to the fifth anime adaptation's sudden cancellation at 100 episodes, it is among the 23 Yōkai Warriors that were not revealed aside from the movie.

Powers and Abilities[]

Legend[]

Ichimokuren is the one-eyed deity of wind and storms worshiped at the Tado Shrine in the Mie Prefecture.

He was feared by locals because when angered, his presence was accompanied by violent rain and thunderstorms strong enough to destroy hundreds of homes. For this reason, in the Owari and Ise Provinces, the word "Ichimokuren" was used to describe something that collapses quickly and also used as a phrase meaning to "run away at first sight".

Despite this, he was also worshipped as a benevolent god as once, heavy rainfall caused a river to overflow and nearly flood a village. The villagers pleaded for help, but no one would answer for the sound of the wind and water drowned out their pleas. Eventually, they all pleaded together for Ichimokuren to rescue them and around midnight the water receded, saving them.

Ichimokuren is said to be an offshoot of the Shinto god of blacksmith Ame-no-Mahitotsu-no-Kami.
