Legend[]
The Kumo-Oyaji is a yōkai that appears at the Ningyo Pass in the Tottori Prefecture. He was once an old man who enjoyed eating tsukudani made from spiders, but the grudge of the spiders he ate transformed him into a yōkai.
Kumo-Oyaji tries to break the curse bestowed upon him by asking people who are traveling through the pass to chant sutras, but travelers run away at the mere sight of him, so he remains in his ugly form to this day.
