Mizu-Sennin (水仙人 Mizu-Sennin, lit. Water Immortal) is a yōkai who is the master of Tokyo Bay, warning the local fishermen to not overfish.[1]

Appearance[]

Mizu-Sennin is a man with with a bald head, lacking a noticeable neck, a pencil-thin mustache and has eyes that are always closed. He wears a blue kimono and uses green straws as a skirt, which is held together with an orange belt.[1]

Powers and Abilities[]

Underwater Breathing: Mizu-Sennin lives underwater in Tokyo Bay, to survive in his environment, he is able to breathe and even sleep in his underwater home with no ill effect.[1]

Vacuum Breath: While underwater, he is able to produce powerful vacuums to suck in objects or beings he wants to swallow, as he did to Kitarō and Nezumi-Otoko in their fish form.[1]

Fish Communication: He is the master of Tokyo Bay and has authority over fish within the gulf. He is able to communicate with the fishes, sending a message in a similar fashion to echolocation and able to receive their replies.[1]

Equipment[]

Gyogangan (魚眼丸 Gyogangan): Mizu-Sennin gave Tatsuya one of these, which allows anyone who consumes it to turn into a fish.[1]

Kaifukugan (回復丸 Kaifukugan): Mizu-Sennin mentions owning at least one, as he was going to give Tatsuya one to turn him back to normal. He himself swallowed one to turn Kitarō and Nezumi-Otoko, who were in his stomach, back to normal.[1]

Trivia[]

  • He is the cause of the Oitekebori legend at Tokyo Bay, whispering "Oite ke" to fishermen as they fish.
