The classification doesn't necessarily include other beings of two-tailed cats, such as Gotoku-Neko and Grimalkin in certain legends.
Appearance[]
In Shigeru Mizuki's works, Neko-Mata often appear as just cats with two tails, though they also often featured more monstrous features, like large bodies and eyes, and sharp teeth. In Shin GeGeGe no Kitarō, Neko-Mata appeared as a large, bipedal, portly cat, with big eyes and slit pupils, a small mouth, pointy ears, stubby limbs, and a striped back. He was seen smoking a cigar. In color illustrations, his fur was revealed to be a yellowish tan.
In the 1996 anime, Neko-Mata now appears even larger cat, with purple fur, a light purple mouth and belly, larger ears, and smaller eyes with yellow sclera and red pupils. He now wears a red bowtie, and turns quadrupedal and more monstrous when enraged. The design of the Neko-Mata from the original story was turned into his own character.

In the manga, a Neko-Mata that appeared in a one-shot acted as a kind of parasite, possessing a man
