Raiko-Sennin (雷虎仙人 Raiko-Sennin, lit. Thunder Tiger Immortal) is a villainous immortal from China, and is a rival of Ryū-Sennin.

Personality[]

Raiko-Sennin has a long rival with the Ryū-Sennin, battling with the dragon immortal every 1500 years, called Sekkai (殺戒, lit. "murdering rule"). He lost in the last match, and had grown grudges and malice since then, and aimed to take over the World of Sages.

History[]

Manga[]

He came to Japan to enhance his Yōki, and decided to devour 30 powerful Yōkai and take their Yōki to defeat his long rival. He murdered numbers of yōkai and humans and made their fresh into KagoKago-Manjū and fed those to other Yōki and humans to increase his minions. He devoured 29 Yōkai and decided to devour Kitarō as the last target, and devoured him in his giant tiger form.

However, Kitarō was recovered thanks to Ryū-Sennin's crystal, and the tiger immortal was defeated with Kitarō 's human rocket technique and hair needle missiles. At his death, he turned into a talisman and vanished into dusts.

Powers and Abilities[]

Tiger Form: He is able to assume the form of a large tiger.

Sage Arts: Raiko-Sennin is an expert on talisman techniques.

Transmutation: He is capable of turning a normal pig into Tonchin and Kitarō into a sludge worm.

Power Bestowal: When he transformed Tonchin, he gave the minion various abilities including human speech, cooking skill, combat skill, and sage arts.

Talisman Controlling: He can control a number of talismans at once.

Equipment[]

Staff: Raiko-Sennin carries around a long wooden staff which was used for casting sage arts.

Talisman: He can create various types of talismans including murder targets, or binding targets. He also controlled Nurikabe and made him cause havoc in Shinjuku.

Whip: He can emit electricity from his whip.

KagoKago-Manjū (加護加護まんじゅう, lit. Divine Protection Divine Protection Mantou): He orders Tonchin to cook manjū which includes fresh of Yōkai and humans he murdered and puts small talismans into them. When one eats it, he/she would be Raiko-Sennin's new minions.

Legend[]

Raiko may based on Tiger Strength Immortal (虎力大仙 Huli daxian) from Journey to the West. Tiger Strength Immortal was one of the Three Great Immortals, three demons who disguise themselves as Taoist priests in order to deceive the ruler of the Kingdom of Chechi.
