Saishinban GeGeGe no Kitarō (最新版ゲゲゲの鬼太郎, The Newest GeGeGe no Kitarō) is a manga by Mizuki Pro that was published in Comic Bom Bom from 1985 to 1987. The series was created to coincide with the 1985 anime and featured many similar elements, such as introducing the character Shisa as well as the Kitarō Family regularly facing off against Nurarihyon.

A special final chapter, "The Great Ghost War", was released in Super Bom Bom.

About

The series was written and drawn by Shigeru Mizuki's staff of assistants at Mizuki Pro, primarily Tatsuya Morino. Although it was credited as "Shigeru Mizuki & Mizuki Pro", Mizuki himself had little to do with its production.

Trivia

  • Chapters 22-26 have been notoriously hard to find on the secondhand market. Unlike the rest of the Saishinban chapters, they were never officially republished and sold as stand alone books. However, fan made compilations have been made of these chapters.[1]
