Sakabashira (逆柱, upside down pillar) is a plant yōkai and an adversary of Kitarō. He first appeared in the Shonen Magazine story Geta Battle.

He appears in episode #44 of the first anime adaptation, Geta Battle.[1]

Third Anime

He appears in episode #52 of the third anime adaptation, Burning Nezumi-Otoko Geta Battle.[2]

Fourth Anime

He appears in episode #83 of the fourth anime adaptation, Geta Battle! Yōkai Sakabashira.[3]

Fifth Anime

He appears in episode #15 of the fifth anime adaptation, Work! Medama-Oyaji.[4]

He makes another appearance in episode #40, Big Fever! Kitarō Goodies.[5]

Legend

Sakabashira is a yōkai that is basically a haunted wooden pillar that is installed upside down as the result of a carpenter's mistake. Usually the pillar would be installed deliberately as a curse. It haunts the family living in the house by giving them nightmare and making creaking noises.
