Synopsis[]
Kitaro was asked for a help from a woman to search her missing son, Kinta. Her husband bought an old western house which was well-known among neighborhoods that it was haunted, but he was a science-worshiper. Hearing the rumor, stubborn Kinta wondered into the house one night to proof that there are no such things as yokai and ghosts. However, there was Kage-Onna residing in the building. Kage-Onna haunted Kinta because the boy witnessed her, and forcefully fed him the spirit stone and turned him into a living ghost by the yokai, making him invisible and apparently dead.
Kitaro came into the house and fought Kage-Onna who claimed she punished a human who didn't believe in yokai and ghosts, but Kitaro told her that she went too far. They fail to reach an agreement since both had their values and it was not the matter of which was right. Kage-Onna was strong, but Kitaro knew that Kage-Onna, a shadow yokai, loses her powers in a complete darkness, then covered a skylight with his chanchanko, won the battle.
