Synopsis[]

At the edge of a cliff near the sea at night, a man is sitting down. From the shadows, another man appears to drive him home. It's revealed the man near the cliff is a president of a company, and he says he gets strange dreams about the place he was sitting in. Just as the president is about to sleep, the driver suddenly tells him it wasn't a dream, turning around to reveal he's now a fox! Terrified, the president jumps out of the car, seeing three foxes playing as children, before coming back to his senses by the driver, who's normal again. Meanwhile, the president's daughter, a girl named Akane, prepares for her wedding tomorrow, determined to make her late mother proud. The president comes into Akane's room, hysterical, and hugs her.

The next day, the president stands outside his home, which also serves as the headquarters to his company, Hashimoto Foods, with a gun. Meanwhile, Akane sneaks outside to head to a bamboo forest to pick cosmos flowers. While there, she meets a talking fox cub named Konta, who says he's a servant of someone named Hakusanbō. Nezumi-Otoko and Kitarō sneak into the Hashimoto Foods building to steal some wild vegetables. The president notices them and at first thinks they're Hakusanbō, and so Nezumi-Otoko "corrects" him by saying Kitarō's a trespasser. Kitarō clears things up and the president tells him that Hakusanbō will get married to his daughter soon.

In the past, the president, real name Shōkichi, was once a poor and impoverished. One night, he tried committing suicide by jumping of a cliff, holding onto a baby from his deceased wife, when suddenly a mysterious figure appeared and saved him. The figure introduced himself as a kitsune named Hakusanbō, and agreed to help with Shōkichi's situation, under the condition that his daughter will become his bride when she turns 18. Afterwards, Shōichi became rich but also very fearful. Suddenly, Shōkichi's maid alerts him Akane has gone missing! Hakusanbō uses this as an opportunity to attack the girl, but he notices something blocking him from attacking. Hakusanbō realizes that Akane's accessory originally from her mother hair acts as a barrier, so he tells Konta to steal it from her. The cub reunites with Akane and lures her into the forest, chanting a spell before abruptly sleeping.

In the Yōkai Apartments, Kitarō tells Sunakake-Babaa about Hakusanbō. She tells him that the fox has no plans on marriage and will instead eat Akane. Back at the forest, Konta wakes up and realizes Akane still has the accessory. As a result, he leaps towards the girls head as she looks and falls into a field of cosmos flowers. The two talk about each other's mothers and Hakusanbō, and Konta manages to get Akane's accessory. Hakusanbō appears and simply crushes the item, and sinisterly prepares to eat Akane. Since Konta was baited into believing Hakusanbō actually wanted to marry Akane, he gets worried. It's now sunset and raining, and Akane sees her father again, horrified while looking at a Kitsune no Yomeiri. Back at the Yōkai Apartments, Kitarō, Nezumi-Otoko, and Sunakake-Babaa sift through boxes, with the later finding a "fox-sealing jar". Akane dresses as a bride as he thanks her father and preparss to meet Hakusanbō, and the other kitsune prepare for the "wedding".

The other kitsune are scared away by Konta, who tells Akane Hakusanbō's true plans. After his master appears, Konta sacrifices himself to be eaten himself, and so he is, much to Akane's terror. Suddenly, a Geta hits Hakusanbō, and Kitarō and Nezumi-Otoko appear, riding on Ittan-Momen! Kitarō opens the fox-sealing jar and chants "Hakusanbō, retreat!", and the kitsune is sucked inside. A veterinarian diagnoses Konta, and Shōkichi plans to get their life back on track, to which Nezumi-Otoko offers to buy out his company. Kitarō offers the jar to the father and daughter, but Medama-Oyaji says they could simply donate it to the village. Akane thanks Konta for saving her, but she realizes that after Hakusanbō was sealed, the kitsune cub has now turned into a normal fox.
