Synopsis[]
Nezumi-Otoko finds a letter in the Yōkai Post addressed to Kitarō from villagers in Hokkaido. He decides to go there himself, since the villagers don't actually know what either of them look like. A Bake-Garasu notices Nezumi-Otoko and tries to stop him, but it gets jammed in the mailbox, and when Kitarō checks up on it, it says Nezumi already went. Nezumi-Otoko walks his way to the snowy mountains of Ginsetsuzan, tired, befoe being greeted by a young girl (in reality the yōkai Yukinko), who shares her ice candy with him. Nezumi declines Yukinko's offer as she cries. When he makes his was to a nearby onsen, Nezumi-Otoko introduces himself as Kitarō, and is welcomed by the owner and her son, Taichi. As he bathes in the onsen, Nezumi imagines himself eating and partying with the other villagers. When Nezumi-Otoko eats a meal, he notices the chopsticks have been replaced with pliers! Nezumi is then visited by multiple housewives, telling them their husbands and boyfriends' were frozen and went missing, and Taichi even shows him something that was left by the culprit; a popsicle stick. "Kitarō" now has his eye on the culprit and immediately sets out, saying he hopes he' invited to a party after everyone is found.
Back in the GeGeGe Forest, the real Kitarō looks at the plant life, but is interrupted by Neko-Musume handing the letter Nezumi-Otoko read. Nezumi heads back to Ginsetzuzan, saying instead of "GeGeGe no Kitarō", he is "BiBiBi no Nezumi-Otoko". A rabbit causes Nezumi to trip into the snow, and he encounters Yukinko again. As Nezumi-Otoko prepares to insult Yukinko again, he gets frozen by a gust of cold, and Yukinko sticks her ice candy into his mouth, freezing him further. As night falls, the villagers search for "Kitarō", and Neko-Musume calls out to them, as they meet her and the real Kitarō. He says that the person they met was actually Nezumi-Otoko, and when Taichi hands out the popsicle stick again, Kitarō thinks it's from a yōkai. As he sleeps, Kitarō hears Yukinko and goes outside, following her into a large cave, which closes in on him. Suddenly, the stalactites suddenly fall near Kitarō, but he shields himself with his chanchanko, and meets two other yōkai, a Yuki-Otoko and his Yuki-Onna wife. The two use their Freezing breath on Kitarō, and Yukinko further freezes him with her ice candy.
The next day, Ittan-Momen and Nurikabe come to help Neko-Musume and the onsen owner remove some snow on the building, and the latter stomps so hard it causes all of it to fall off. Back in the cave, Yukinko introduces herself as she secretly melts Kitarō with a bonfire. She explains that her and her parents attacked the villagers near Ginsetsuzan because they were upset by them recklessly poaching the animals in the area. Kitarō asks Yukinko if she's seen Nezumi-Otoko, but since she doesn't know him by name he actually transforms his body and voice to match him. Yukinko decided to save Kitarō since she didn't recognize him as one of the hunters. Yuki-Onna appears, and sees Yukinko with the now melted Kitarō, and tries to freeze him herself, even though her daughter tells her not all humans are bad. Kitarō defeats her by using his Yōkai Radiation ability, and soon meets Yuki-Otoko again. Back outside, everyone else calls out to Kitarō. Yuki-Otoko is ordered by her father to use her ice candy to Kitarō, but she just can't do it. Kitarō hits Yuki-Otoko with his geta, causing an avalanche outside of the cave to fall, that Nurikabe tries to shield everyone from. As Kitarō uses Yōkai Radiation against him, Yuki-Otoko summons energy shurikens that slice through the cave's stalactites, but he narrowly dodges them and smothers his face with his chanchanko. Yukinko cannot bare to watch her parents die and so sacrifices herself to hug Yuki-Otoko, as they all melt. Kitarō later uses his geta to free all of the villagers and Nezumi-Otoko, who immediately runs to Yukinko to scold her, but comes back to Kitarō to tell him how hard it is to cover for him. Kitarō thanks Yukinko for telling him what their family's intentions were.
As they all go back outside, Kitarō calls out to Nurikabe, who emerges from the snow. All of the village housewives, like the onsen owner, reunite with their husbands. As the onsen owner's husband thanks Kitarō for defeating Yuki-Otoko, he tells then they only attacked because of poaching in Ginsetsuzan. Nezumi-Otoko gets pelted by snowballs, as all he did was bathe in the onsen, and as everyone laughs at him, the animals from Yukinko's home look on.
