Synopsis[]
After receiving a letter that read, "The yōkai, Mannen-Dake is attacking us," Kitarō heads to the bamboo thicket in the mountains. There, Nezumi-Otoko was waiting with Kubota from the tourism board in addition to Masahiko and Kiyomi, a couple and the current owners of the bamboo thicket. They want to make the bamboo thicket into a tourist spot, so they wanted to see if the Mannen-Dake is really there. It is said that many people who enter the bamboo thicket have gone missing, including the former owner of the thicket, Daikichi. As soon as Kitarō steps into the bamboo thicket, he senses yōkai activity.
At the home within the thicket, they find a warning to humans written in blood-red lettering. Daikichi's study at the back of the house is full of bamboo leaves. Suddenly, the frightened Masahiko became quiet. Upon close observation, Masahiko's entire body was turned into bamboo...!?
