Shiroshōzoku are small, child-sized beings that are entirely black with glowing yellow eyes and mouths filled with sharp teeth. They wear white burial kimonos and conical straw hats tied with white string.[1]

In the broad sense, Shiroshozoku means white clothing. In a limited sense, it is a white garment worn in Shinto and Buddhism for rituals. It is also used in burials, dressing the bodies the deceased.
