Soragami is a Tengu from Wakayama and Nara Prefectures. In Nara, it can refer to kami that reside in high places.

Once upon a time, man named Manzo encountered a Soragami in Iwata Village, Nishimuro County, Wakayama Prefecture. After storming out of his house after an argument with his wife, he was beckoned by a white-robed Yamabushi-like figure who asked him to be carried on his back. Once he got on, he flew off into the sky. Three days later, Manzo was discovered in a bamboo field in the temple grounds behind his house. He slept for about two days, and upon waking, all of the other villagers listened to his story. Manzo said his family was worried about him and that he had told him to go home, and that he had drunk sake at a drinking party in Nishinomiya, Banshu, Hyogo Prefecture, but he refused to elaborate further as he feared that the Soragami would get angry at him. After his talk, Manzo would look up at the sky to see the Soragami, but no one else saw him.
