Tompo (トムポ Tompo) is a Tibetan monk who first appears in the Hakaba Kitarō story I'm a Freshman. Originally he was called High Priest Chimpo (高僧チンポ Kōsō Chinpo) until the 1985 anime.

Tompo came to Japan at the request of the Japanese government to analyze and detect the cause of Brigadoon with his ability. He did see inside the phenomenon and confirmed its cause, but simply said "the level of the spiritual science of today is not enough to solve and prevent it."
