Western Yōkai (西洋妖怪, Seiyō Yōkai) is a general term for yōkai who hail from outside of Asia, but it is more commonly used to refer to a specific band of yōkai who wage war on the Japanese yōkai in the Shonen Magazine story The Great Yōkai War. The Western Yōkai are usually depicted as lead by Backbeard.
Even though the term refers to yōkai outside of Asia, yōkai from Russia and the Middle East are included as well.
