The World Yōkai Society (世界妖怪協会, Sekai Yōkai Kyōkai) is an organization of yōkai enthusiasts founded by Shigeru Mizuki and several other yōkai researchers in 1995. It is a place for people to discuss and deepen their understanding of yōkai. Mizuki was also it's original chairman.

About[]

Despite it's name, it only operates out of Japan. Mizuki likely only named it "World" (Sekai) to make it rhyme with the rest of the name (Yōkai Kyōkai). Every year during August, the organization holds the World Yōkai Conference. It was originally held in Mizuki's hometown of Sakaiminato, but has since been held in Tokyo and cities with notable yōkai legends. Members include Natsuhiko Kyōgoku, Hiroshi Aramata and Tatsumi Tada. In 1997, the organization launched it's official magazine, Kwai.
