The Yōkai Post (妖怪ポスト Yōkai Posuto) is a special post used to send mail to Kitarō.
Description[]
Its appearance varies in shape and materials used, but it always resembles an old wooden mailbox. It does not seem to have a fixed location, appearing in numerous places between, though one is usually always placed near the GeGeGe House. Animals are the ones delivering the letter to Kitarō, other such animals include rats, cats,[1] or frogs,[2] but most primarily the Bake-Garasu.
In the 2007 anime, Chigusa Kataoka was able to call forth the Yōkai Post by reciting the following spell: "Kararan, koron. Kara-koron".[3] In the movie based on the 2007 anime, Hana Kazamatsuri was also able call forth the Yōkai Post by reciting the same spell. Hana's grandmother told her two things about the Yōkai Post: "The time is the moment at dusk when the sky grows dark, at a place where there are no other human presences," and "If you are sincere and wholeheartedly cast the spells, it will appear."[4]
